Sudden Illness Aboard the Flight
Mid-flight, five passengers and two crew members reported dizziness and nausea. This situation not only caused concern among other passengers but also prompted the flight crew to take immediate action. The situation was immediately controlled, and medical emergency assistance was requested at Mumbai airport.
Medical Assistance After Safe Landing
Immediately after the flight landed safely at Mumbai airport, a pre-positioned medical team provided first aid to all affected passengers and crew members. Two passengers and two crew members, who were in more serious condition, were shifted to the airport medical room. After treatment, all showed improvement and were discharged.
Air India's Statement
An Air India spokesperson issued a statement clarifying the incident. They confirmed that flight AI 130 landed safely in Mumbai. All affected passengers and crew received immediate medical attention. Two passengers and two crew members were briefly transferred to the medical room. Their condition has now improved, and they have been discharged.
Investigation Ordered
Air India also clarified that a full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the sudden illness among passengers and crew during the flight. The airline assured that passenger safety is their priority and appropriate action will be taken in case of any negligence.
Another Flight Returns
Just prior to this incident, another Air India flight, IX2564, from Delhi to Jammu, had to return due to technical reasons. Suspected GPS signal interference caused the flight to be diverted back to Delhi. Air India stated that passengers were sent to Jammu on an alternative flight.
