Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has questioned the government over the demolition action carried out during the widening of the 14 Kosi Parikrama Marg in Ayodhya. He said the losses suffered by people whose houses, shops and belongings were affected should be compensated. Yadav said that if the current government does not compensate the affected people, a Samajwadi Party government would provide compensation to the affected families.
Akhilesh Yadav said people affected by the demolition action during the widening of the 14 Kosi Parikrama Marg should be compensated for the loss of their houses, shops and belongings. He said that if the current government does not compensate for the losses, affected families would be compensated if the Samajwadi Party forms the government.
Several houses have been affected by action taken in recent days as part of the widening of the Parikrama Marg. According to the administration, notices and the compensation process have been undertaken in relation to the affected buildings, and action was carried out in some cases following High Court directions.
Akhilesh Yadav said people should have been given sufficient time to remove belongings from their homes before action was taken against houses and shops. He claimed that the belongings of affected people were also taken away during the action.
Yadav said poor families have their entire savings invested in their homes. He said affected families had been assured that if a Samajwadi Party government is formed in the future, they would be compensated for the losses suffered, including the loss of their homes and belongings.
During the press conference, some women affected by the demolition action also raised their concerns. Following this, Akhilesh Yadav shared information related to the affected people and their properties.
Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad has also demanded compensation for people affected by the widening of the route. On September 23, he reached the site and staged a protest, demanding that those who had received incomplete compensation be provided the remaining amount.
In a social media post, Akhilesh Yadav made several allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party government over the action in Ayodhya. Referring to issues concerning land and people's homes in the name of the construction of the Ram Temple, he criticised the government.
In the post, he wrote, “Which path would please Lord Ram if it destroys the homes of innocent people?” He also said that people would use their right to vote in the future and respond to the government through the power of their vote.
