A dispute has emerged within the Congress organisation in Aligarh after a Dalit Congress leader accused the party's district vice-president of caste-based humiliation and assault.

According to the complainant, he had visited the party office in connection with party-related work when an argument broke out. He alleged that after the district vice-president learned that he belonged to the Valmiki community, the leader's behaviour changed. The complainant claimed that he was subjected to caste-based humiliation, spat on, assaulted with shoes after protesting, verbally abused, and forced out of the party office.

The Dalit leader said the incident caused him severe mental and social distress. He stated that he had lodged a complaint with the concerned authorities and demanded strict legal action against those responsible.

The complainant has also sought a fair investigation into the matter and said that action should be taken against those concerned in accordance with the law if the allegations are found to be true.

The response of the leaders against whom the allegations have been made is also considered important. If they deny the allegations or present their version, their statements will be included during the investigation. At present, the allegations have not been independently verified, and the facts will become clear only after the investigation is completed.

If a complaint has been received by the police or the concerned administrative authorities, the facts will be examined on that basis. The investigation will include the examination of eyewitness accounts, available evidence, and other relevant facts. If any offence is established during the investigation, action may be taken under the applicable legal provisions.

At present, the matter remains at the stage of allegations and a complaint. The circumstances of the incident and the veracity of the allegations will be determined only after the investigation is completed. The administration and police have indicated that, upon receiving a complaint, a fair investigation will be conducted and further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
