Uttar Pradesh Congress president has been placed under house arrest after arriving in Ayodhya over the alleged theft case linked to the Ram Temple. According to available information, he had earlier announced plans to march to and gherao the office of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Before the scheduled programme, police and administrative officials prevented him from leaving the designated location and tightened security around him. Following the action, political activity intensified in Ayodhya.
The Indian National Congress alleged that the action was intended to suppress the voice of the opposition. Party leaders said they planned to present their position on the alleged Ram Temple-related matter and peacefully reach the Trust office, but were stopped by the administration before doing so.
Meanwhile, the Congress president's wife also questioned the administration's action. She said she was concerned about her husband's safety and claimed that "there is a threat to his life from the government." She called on the administration to ensure his security and sought impartial treatment.
The administration, however, said precautionary measures had been taken to maintain law and order and prevent any potentially tense situation. According to officials, maintaining peace in the sensitive area remains the priority, and necessary security arrangements have therefore been put in place. A detailed official statement from the administration is awaited.
Following reports of the house arrest, Congress workers expressed displeasure. Several supporters attempted to reach the location, while police maintained a security cordon. Additional police personnel were deployed across the area, and movement was closely monitored to prevent any untoward incident.
The matter comes at a time when political exchanges have intensified over the alleged Ram Temple theft case. Different political parties have issued varying responses, while the administration has maintained that preserving law and order is its foremost responsibility.
At present, the Uttar Pradesh Congress president remains under house arrest, and the proposed march or gherao of the Trust office could not take place. Political allegations and counter-allegations continue, while the administration and police are closely monitoring the situation. Further action and an official clarification are awaited.
