Ambedkar Nagar district has seen special measures taken by official authorities this year to make the paddy procurement process more transparent and farmer-friendly.
The paddy procurement drive in the district is set to commence on November 1st, and nodal officers have already been appointed at the tehsil level in preparation for this.
These nodal officers have been entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the process at each procurement center, ensuring fair prices for farmers, and curbing black market activities operated by middlemen.
This year, the paddy procurement target has been increased to 158,000 metric tons, in contrast to approximately 153,000 metric tons procured last year.
To date, 3,534 farmers have registered in the district.
To facilitate a smooth procurement process, technical preparations are also underway at the procurement centers, including the provision of machines, weighing scales, gunny bags, geotagging, and GPS systems.
Instructions received state that no form of irregularity will be tolerated, and farmers will receive the assured Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce. The administration asserts that this initiative will provide enhanced facilities to farmers and shield them from the exploitative practices of middlemen.
