In the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) has released a new document titled 'Tejashwi's Pledge'. It makes employment, women's empowerment, and social justice the main issues. Tejashwi Yadav stated that if his government is formed, one member from every family will be given a job.

Bihar Election 2025: The atmosphere for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 is heating up. This time, the Mahagathbandhan has released a new political document instead of the traditional 'manifesto', named – 'Tejashwi's Pledge'. This is not just a promise, but a litmus test connected to Tejashwi Yadav's personal credibility and political future. Released before the first phase of polling on November 6, this pledge-document sends a new message in Bihar politics that the fight is now not just Mahagathbandhan versus NDA, but Tejashwi versus Nitish.

A Message of Change Politics

In his address, Tejashwi Yadav said, "My age might be a bit raw, but my word is firm. What I say, I do." This single sentence reflects both his confidence and the enthusiasm of the new generation in politics. He claimed that a wave of change is now sweeping through Bihar. The public is ready to bring the Mahagathbandhan to power this time. Tejashwi clearly stated that if his government is formed, a strict campaign will be launched against criminals, and all offenders will be behind bars from November 26 to January 26.

The Journey from 'Nyay' to 'Tejashwi's Pledge'

In the 2020 elections, the Mahagathbandhan entered the electoral arena with the slogan "Justice and Change." At that time, Tejashwi was a young face in politics, but he has now emerged as a mature leader. Over the past five years, he not only served as the leader of the opposition but also remained in power with Nitish Kumar for 17 months. During this period, he accelerated recruitment drives and transformed 'promises of employment' into a solid governance record. Now, the same issue forms the backbone of his manifesto, but this time, new dimensions like women's empowerment, rights of contract employees, and social justice have been added to the 'Pledge' alongside employment.

Focus on Employment and Economic Development

Tejashwi Yadav's 'Pledge' is not limited to job promises alone. He stated that at least one person from every family would be given a job, and 1.25 crore new employment opportunities would be created. This time, his focus is on increasing investment in the private sector, developing a startup ecosystem for youth, and skill development. He claims that Bihar should now be made a 'state of creators' rather than a 'state of laborers'.

Special Schemes for Women

Understanding the decisive role of women voters, Tejashwi Yadav has announced the 'Mai Bahen Yojana' (Mother-Sister Scheme). Under this scheme, every woman will be provided with a monthly assistance of Rs 2,500. Additionally, women from Jeevika Didis (women from self-help groups under Jeevika program) and Self Help Groups have been promised permanent jobs and a monthly salary of Rs 30,000. Tejashwi states that his government will give utmost priority to women's dignity and self-reliance in Bihar.

New Hope for Contract Employees

Tejashwi Yadav's manifesto also includes special provisions for Contract Workers. These employees, who have been demanding permanent status for years, have been promised regularization. This move could directly impact the NDA government's middle-class vote bank, as Tejashwi's policies aim to appeal to sections that have been considered neglected until now.

Nitish Kumar's Policy vs. Tejashwi's Pledge

Nitish Kumar recently launched the 'Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme', under which women are being given a one-time assistance of Rs 10,000. Tejashwi's plan goes a step further as it promises regular monthly assistance. This direct comparison makes Tejashwi's proposal more practical and long-term. Similarly, he has also reiterated the India Bloc's resolution to include the reservation system in the Ninth Schedule of the constitution to provide it constitutional protection.

Attempt to Reach Minority Voters

In 2020, Tejashwi Yadav's campaign was considered unsuccessful in reaching Muslim voters in the Seemanchal region. This time, he has attempted to correct this mistake. The manifesto emphasizes minority welfare, including a promise to review the Waqf Act and ensure transparency in the management of religious institutions. This step is clearly part of a strategy to consolidate Muslim votes.

Tejashwi Yadav has announced that if his government is formed, the reservation limit will be increased to 75 percent. Along with this, an initiative will be taken to include it in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution to protect it from judicial intervention. This promise could have a significant impact among backward, Dalit, and minority communities.

In this election, the contest has narrowed down to two leaders – Nitish Kumar, an experienced administrator, and Tejashwi Yadav, the face of change. Nitish speaks of development and stability, while Tejashwi speaks of the dreams and employment of the youth. This contest is not just political but also generational.
