Jaipur Central Jail Faces Intense Scrutiny Amid Major Security Lapses: 40+ Mobile Phones Seized, Two Prisoners Escaped

Questions have once again been raised regarding the security arrangements of Jaipur Central Jail. Forty mobile phones were recovered in a month, while recently two prisoners had escaped by scaling the wall. Repeated lapses have cast serious doubts on the functioning of the jail administration.

Jaipur: The Central Jail of the capital city, Jaipur, is once again in the spotlight due to security lapses. Over 40 mobile phones have been recovered from the jail premises in the past month. The discovery of four new mobile phones during two separate search operations on Sunday and Monday has raised serious questions about the jail administration's functioning. Recently, two prisoners had escaped from this very jail by scaling the wall, further exposing the weaknesses in the security arrangements.

Mobile Phones Recovered from Jail Ward Number Two

During a search operation conducted on Monday, two keypad mobile phones were recovered from barrack number two of ward number two in the jail. Jail guard Manohar Lal, a resident of Barmer, lodged a report in this matter. Similarly, two mobile phones were also found during an inspection on Sunday, for which guard Santosh Kumar filed a report. Officials state that the continuous recovery of mobile phones indicates an active organized network inside the jail, playing a role in smuggling these phones in.

According to sources, despite the incidents of mobile phone recovery, no concrete clue about this network has been found yet. The jail administration has ordered a detailed investigation into the matter and has stated its intention to further tighten the surveillance system.

Two Prisoners Escaped by Scaling Wall in September

In September, two prisoners had escaped from Jaipur Central Jail by scaling its wall. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 20, at approximately 3:30 AM, when two prisoners, Anas and Naval Kishore, used a pipe attached to the jail wall to get out. Initial investigations revealed that both had planned their escape in advance and took advantage of negligence in the guard's duty.

According to the jail administration, both prisoners had recently been admitted to the jail and were undertrials. Their escape, despite such stringent security standards, is considered a major failure of the jail management. Following the incident, the administration had also altered the guard duty system, but recent events have proven that the reform efforts are still incomplete.

Serious Questions Raised on Jail Security System

The recovery of 40 mobile phones in a month and the escape of two prisoners are evidence of serious flaws in the jail's surveillance system. Sources believe that the mobile supply network might be operating with the complicity of internal jail staff. However, no official is publicly commenting on this.

A senior jail official stated that sudden search operations will continue in all wards, and strict action will be taken against any guards or staff members suspected of involvement. Furthermore, work has begun on a plan to increase CCTV coverage inside the jail and to make mobile jammers more effective.
