Andhra Pradesh's Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district has secured the first position nationwide in the Basic Infrastructure category of NITI Aayog's Aspirational District Programme rankings. The district administration attributed the achievement to the effective implementation of development schemes and the expansion of essential public services.

The achievement marks a milestone in the district's development journey. According to the district administration, sustained efforts, effective execution of government schemes, and a strategy focused on extending basic facilities to remote areas contributed to the top national ranking.

Alluri Sitarama Raju district is geographically challenging and is home to a large tribal population. Several parts of the district had long faced shortages of basic infrastructure and public services. The administration prioritised strengthening road connectivity, electricity, drinking water supply, education, and healthcare services in these areas. These continued efforts have earned the district national recognition.

District Collector T. Nishanthi said the recognition reflects the administration's commitment and work carried out at the grassroots level. She said priority was given to ensuring that government schemes reached the most remote villages and habitations.

NITI Aayog launched the Aspirational District Programme to accelerate development in the country's backward districts. Under the programme, districts are assessed across sectors including health, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and basic infrastructure. ASR district secured the top position in the Basic Infrastructure category through its performance.

According to the administration, improved coordination among departments, regular monitoring, and effective implementation of development programmes played an important role in achieving the ranking. The District Collector said the achievement was the result of the collective efforts of public representatives, officials, employees, field staff, and the people of the district.

As part of development initiatives, the district undertook measures to improve rural connectivity, expand electricity access, strengthen drinking water facilities, and extend healthcare services to the public. The administration adopted continuous monitoring and field-level implementation strategies to connect people in remote areas with government services. Efforts were also made to improve educational facilities and provide quality education to children. These improvements strengthened the district's overall development indicators.

District Collector T. Nishanthi congratulated all officials, employees, field staff, public representatives, and residents of the district for the national recognition. She said the achievement is a matter of pride for the district and that the administration will continue working with the same commitment. She added that the objective is not only to secure rankings but also to ensure continuous improvement across all areas of development.

The Collector said the administration will now work towards developing the district as a model for the country. The focus will remain on improving development indicators, expanding citizen services, and strengthening the reach of government schemes. She said the recognition would encourage the administration to continue improving basic infrastructure and the standard of living of residents.

Securing the first position in NITI Aayog's rankings marks an achievement for ASR district. According to the administration, the result reflects the impact of coordinated governance, effective implementation, and community participation in development initiatives.
