The Congress has appointed Rampur Khas MLA Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ as the new president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), replacing Ajay Rai. The party has also appointed Saharanpur MP Imran Masood as the working president of the state unit.
The appointment was announced on October 2, 2026. Aradhana Mishra represents the Rampur Khas Assembly constituency in Pratapgarh district and has been elected from the seat three consecutive times. She previously served as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
The Congress has appointed Chaudhary Virendra Singh as the new Leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Uttar Pradesh. Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad have been appointed senior vice presidents of the UPCC. The appointments take effect immediately.
Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ has been active in Uttar Pradesh politics for several years. She represents Rampur Khas, a constituency with a long political association with her family. Her father, Pramod Tiwari, is a senior Congress leader and represented Rampur Khas for several terms.
After Pramod Tiwari moved to the Rajya Sabha, the Congress fielded Aradhana Mishra from Rampur Khas. She won the 2014 by-election and subsequently retained the constituency in the 2017 and 2022 Assembly elections. She has therefore served three consecutive terms as an MLA.
Mishra also served as the Congress Legislature Party leader in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly before being appointed UPCC president. She represented the party in the state legislature and was involved in the party’s organisational activities.
Aradhana Mishra has appeared alongside Priyanka Gandhi during several Congress programmes and tours in Uttar Pradesh. She also participated in the Congress campaign titled ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.
Aradhana Mishra ‘Mona’ was born on April 20, 1974, in Prayagraj. Her father’s name is recorded as Pramod Tiwari in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly profile. Available information states that she graduated from Allahabad University. She is married to Ambika Mishra and has two children.
