Ayodhya Ram Temple Food Offerings to Undergo FSSAI Safety Audit on May 27-28

A central FSSAI team will inspect Sita Rasoi at the Ayodhya Ram Temple on May 27 and 28 to assess food quality, hygiene standards, water quality and staff health parameters for certification of Ram Lalla’s food offerings under the ‘Bhog’ programme.

The central team of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India will conduct a safety audit on May 27 and 28 for the food offerings prepared for Ram Lalla at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has initiated the licensing process, and following inspections of Sita Rasoi’s hygiene standards, food quality and cooks’ health parameters, a ‘Bhog’ certificate will be issued.

A five-member central team of FSSAI will inspect Sita Rasoi, located within the Ram Temple complex, on May 27 and 28. A pre-safety audit will be conducted on the first day, followed by a final audit on the second day. The team will travel from New Delhi to Ayodhya and assess all standards linked to kitchen operations.

During the audit, the quality of food ingredients used in preparing offerings will be examined. The cleanliness of the kitchen, water quality and storage arrangements will also be inspected. The food safety department has sent water samples to a laboratory for testing.

In addition, a special camp will be organised in the temple complex to conduct health examinations of cooks and storekeepers. Employees will also receive fast-track hygienic training to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

According to food safety department officials, the central team will submit its report to FSSAI. If all standards are met successfully, the food offerings for Ram Lalla will receive the ‘Bhog’ certification, which stands for Blissful Hygienic Offering to God.

Officials said that the certificate has already been issued to Hanumangarhi, Kanak Bhawan, Jain Mandir Raiganj and Gurudwara Nazarbagh in Ayodhya. The application process for the Ram Temple had not been completed earlier due to ongoing construction work within the temple complex.
