Begusarai MLA Bogo Singh has criticised the Bihar government and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders over law and order and rising crime in the state, alleging that criminals have become emboldened and that agencies such as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have failed to resolve several cases.
Speaking to the media in Begusarai, Singh said, “How will the Chief Minister pull criminals out from the underworld? When criminals are openly committing crimes and investigative agencies are also not fully succeeding, how will public trust remain intact?”
The legislator criticised the government over recurring incidents of murder, robbery and firing in the state. He said only statements were being issued against criminals and that no visible impact was being seen on the ground.
Singh said people were living in fear and were reluctant to leave their homes after evening hours. He alleged that criminals were carrying out incidents without fear while police were only issuing statements.
Questioning the functioning of Bihar Police, Singh said several major cases had yet to result in arrests. He alleged that political pressure and administrative weakness were strengthening criminal networks.
Singh also targeted NDA leaders, saying, “NDA leaders are getting agitated like bulls and buffaloes. Instead of talking about public problems and crime, only political statements are being made.” His remarks have intensified political discussions.
Several major criminal incidents have been reported in Bihar in recent days. The opposition has continued to criticise the government over incidents of murder, robbery, extortion and firing. In this context, Singh’s remarks are being viewed as adding to the political debate.
The MLA said that when people approach police and the administration seeking justice, they receive only assurances. He claimed criminals no longer feared the law.
Referring to agencies such as the SIT and the Central Bureau of Investigation, Singh said the complete truth had yet to emerge in several high-profile cases, weakening public confidence.
Singh said the government should focus on action on the ground instead of presenting figures. He demanded a special campaign to control crime and ber policing in sensitive districts.
Political observers believe law and order could emerge as a major issue in Bihar politics in the coming period, with the opposition continuing to target the government over crime figures and incidents.
Several widely discussed incidents have surfaced in recent days, from Patna to smaller districts, raising questions about the administration. Against this backdrop, political statements by leaders have continued to attract attention.
No official response has yet been issued by the ruling side regarding Singh’s remarks, though political discussions around the statement have intensified.
On social media, some people supported the MLA’s remarks and questioned law and order, while others described them as political rhetoric.
Local leaders of Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party said in informal conversations that the opposition was making such statements for political gain. They claimed the government was continuously taking action to control crime.
For now, Singh’s remarks appear to have triggered a fresh political debate in Bihar, with public attention focused on the government and administration’s next course of action amid political exchanges over law and order.
