Police in Bihar are investigating the alleged murder of a student who had left home to fill out a scholarship form and later failed to return, according to officials. Authorities said the case initially appeared to be a missing person matter before the student’s body was recovered with multiple injuries.
According to Bihar Police officials, the student had left home to submit a scholarship form but did not return by late night, prompting family members to contact police. After the body was recovered, officials said serious injury marks were found, including fractures in the hands and legs and visible signs of violence on the neck.
Post-mortem findings confirmed that the student died due to severe assault and neck twisting, police said.
Investigation Based on Call Records and Friend’s Questioning
During the investigation, police examined the student’s mobile call records and questioned his friends. Authorities said the activities of one close friend appeared suspicious. Officials stated that the individual initially attempted to mislead investigators but later disclosed details of the case during questioning.
Police sources alleged that the friend, who was facing financial difficulties, had come into contact with suspected criminals and was allegedly offered Rs 15,000 in exchange for information about the student’s location and activities. Investigators alleged that the friend shared details of the student’s movements.
Police said the friend allegedly called the student on the day of the incident, telling him they would go together to complete the scholarship form process. According to investigators, the student accompanied him without suspicion before being intercepted by assailants already present along the route.
Details of Alleged Assault and Investigation
According to information cited by investigators, the accused allegedly assaulted the student and continued beating him after resistance. Police said the student sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his limbs, before his death.
Following the incident, the accused allegedly abandoned the body in a secluded area and fled, according to police. Family members reportedly searched for the student overnight before being informed of the body’s recovery the next day.
A forensic science laboratory team collected evidence from the site, police said. Authorities stated that physical evidence, mobile location data and call details helped investigators trace suspects.
Police have detained multiple individuals in connection with the case and are continuing to question the main accused friend and other suspects. Officials said cases have been registered under charges related to murder, conspiracy and other serious offences, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
