The Election Commission has announced the dates for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Voting will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11. 7.41 crore voters will exercise their franchise. Results will be declared on November 14.

Bihar Assembly Election 2025: The Election Commission has announced the dates for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. This time, the Assembly elections in Bihar will be held in two phases. The first phase will be on November 6, 2025, and the second phase on November 11, 2025. Following voting in both phases, the election results will be declared on November 14, 2025.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that a total of 7 crore 41 lakh voters in the state will exercise their franchise this time. The Election Commission has also made provisions for voters above 80 years of age to cast their votes from home.

Model Code of Conduct

With the Election Commission's announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in Bihar. To ensure peaceful and fair elections, the Commission has urged all political parties and candidates for their cooperation.

The Chief Election Commissioner also stated that legal action would be taken against those spreading rumors and obstructing the election process. Additionally, special arrangements would be ensured for elderly and disabled voters.

Voting Process and Polling Stations

This time, in the Bihar Assembly Elections, there will be an average of 818 voters at each polling booth. Adequate arrangements will be made at every polling station to ensure that all voters can easily exercise their right to vote.

EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) will be used in the election, and a colored photograph of each candidate will be included in the machine to help voters identify them easily.

Experience from Previous Elections

In the previous Assembly elections held in 2020, voting took place for 243 seats in Bihar. These elections were concluded in three phases.

First Phase (October 28, 2020): 16 Districts, 71 Seats
Districts included: Aurangabad, Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Rohtas, Kaimur, Nawada, Jamui, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Bhagalpur, Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar

Second Phase (November 3, 2020): 17 Districts, 94 Seats
Districts included: Siwan, Gopalganj, Saran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, East Champaran, West Champaran, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, Madhepura, Supaul, Khagaria, Begusarai, Purnia

Third Phase (November 7, 2020): 15 Districts, 78 Seats
Districts included: Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Madhepura, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Purnia, Araria, Saharsa, Jamui

Thus, in 2020, elections were concluded in a total of three phases, and vote counting took place on November 10, 2020.

Historically, Assembly elections in Bihar have been held in various phases. Some examples are as follows:

Voter List

The Chief Election Commissioner informed that the voter list has been purified this time after 22 years. Additionally, 17 new initiatives will be introduced in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. These include increasing the number of polling stations, providing special facilities for elderly and disabled voters, and identifying candidates with their photos on EVMs.

Special Facilities for Voters

The Election Commission has ensured that voters above 80 years of age will be able to cast their votes from home. Additionally, disabled voters, sick voters, and those in uncomfortable situations will also be able to avail themselves of special arrangements.

The Chief Election Commissioner stated that all voters should obtain information about their polling station and voting time in advance to avoid any difficulties in the voting process.
