Prior to the Bihar elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given a significant gift to the state's residents, directly benefiting crores of people. He has increased the amount of social security pension and transferred it to the accounts of 1.11 crore beneficiaries.
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a major initiative for the people of the state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. He has transferred the increased amount of social security pension schemes directly to the beneficiaries' accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Now, instead of ₹400 per month, ₹1100 will be sent to the beneficiaries' accounts. This decision will directly benefit 1.11 crore people.
On July 10, CM Nitish transferred an amount of ₹1227.27 crore during a program held via video conferencing. On this occasion, he not only highlighted the achievements of his government but also targeted the previous Lalu-Rabri regime.
Which schemes' beneficiaries benefited?
The social security schemes under which the Nitish Kumar government has released this amount include:
- Chief Minister's Old Age Pension Scheme
- Bihar Disability Pension Scheme
- Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme
- Widow Pension Scheme
- Old Age Pension Scheme
Under all these schemes, every eligible beneficiary will now receive ₹1100 per month.
What did Nitish Kumar say?
The Chief Minister said, "Now, on the 10th of every month, a pension amount of ₹1100 will be transferred to your bank account. You all know what used to happen before. Our government has continuously worked for you and will continue to do so." Comparing the period before 2005, he said that his government has done solid work for the welfare of women, the elderly, widows, and the disabled.
CM Nitish Kumar said that his government has taken several revolutionary steps to empower women socially and economically:
- 50% reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions
- 35% reservation in government jobs
He claimed that these steps have rapidly increased women's participation in the development of the state.
Order to provide Ayushman Bharat cards to everyone
CM Nitish also made a major announcement regarding health facilities. He has directed the health department to provide Ayushman Bharat cards to all beneficiaries of social security schemes. "We want every citizen of the state to be healthy and safe," he said. Free treatment should be available to every poor person under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
According to political analysts, this announcement is part of the preparations for the Bihar Elections 2025. Social security schemes could become a major election issue in the Bihar Elections 2025. This could connect the elderly, women, widows, and the disabled community with the Nitish government.
