Amidst the first phase of voting for the Bihar Assembly elections, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has launched a sharp attack on Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav.
UP: Amidst the first phase of voting for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has launched a fierce attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav. The political temperature in Bihar was already high, and this statement from UP has further intensified the political atmosphere.
Posting on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Keshav Prasad Maurya took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav. He wrote, "In Bihar's election festival, SP Bahadur Shri Akhilesh Yadav is unnecessarily brandishing his stick. The reality is that in this election, his SP is neither here nor there, and there is nothing but barrenness for his party far and wide." Maurya's tweet stirred up social media. Supporters and leaders of opposition parties reacted differently to this statement.
Questions Raised Over SP's Role in Bihar
The clear message behind Deputy CM Maurya's statement was — the Samajwadi Party's influence in Bihar politics is negligible. While the Bihar elections see a direct contest between the NDA and INDIA alliance, the SP has fielded its candidates on some seats. However, the SP's hold in Bihar's political equations is considered weak.
Political analysts say that Maurya's statement is, on one hand, a jab at the SP's position, and on the other, an attempt to unite BJP supporters. Voting is underway for 121 seats in the first phase in Bihar, and at this time, every statement can influence the voters' mood.

An Interesting Meeting Witnessed at Patna Airport
Amidst the war of words, an interesting sight was witnessed on Tuesday. Akhilesh Yadav and Keshav Prasad Maurya were seen together at Patna Airport.
Both leaders shook hands and conversed with smiles. These pictures went viral on social media. People made various comments on this, remarking that in politics, there are no enmities, only clashes of ideology.
Though the elections were different, the meeting reflected a sense of warmth. This encounter has become a topic of discussion in political circles. While attacks were being launched against each other from the stage, this friendly picture seen at the airport sparked new curiosity among the public.
Keshav Maurya's Appeal to the Public: First Vote, Then Refreshments
Deputy CM Maurya also appealed to the people of Bihar to strengthen democracy. He said, "To build a developed and self-reliant Bihar, first cast your vote, then have refreshments. For a b democracy and an empowered Bihar, it is essential that all of you exercise your right to vote. Let's unite to form an NDA-backed government of good governance and accelerate the pace of Bihar's development."
His appeal is being linked to the NDA's election slogan "Phir Ek Baar, Sushasan Sarkar" (Once Again, Good Governance Government). Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is currently participating in the INDIA alliance's election campaign in Bihar. Although SP has a limited presence in Bihar, Akhilesh Yadav's visit is being seen as a symbol of opposition unity.
In his speeches, Akhilesh has raised unemployment, inflation, and farmers' issues as major concerns. He stated, "The BJP government has not fulfilled its promises to the public. The people of Bihar now want change." However, the BJP believes that Akhilesh's visit to Bihar is merely a political show and its ground impact will be negligible.
