The NDA alliance has finalized the cabinet formula, under which Nitish Kumar will once again become the Chief Minister. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to be given two Deputy Chief Minister posts, which could further strengthen both the organizational and political role of the BJP.

The maximum number of ministerial posts in Bihar can be 36, but a decision has been made to deliberately leave five posts vacant. • JDU – 13 Ministers
  • BJP – 13 Ministers
  • LJP (R) – 3 Ministers
  • HAM (H.A.M) – 1 Minister
  • RLM (Rashtra Lok Morcha) – 1 Minister

BJP to get two Deputy Chief Ministers: Strategy inspired by UP model

Discussions about giving two Deputy CMs to the BJP have intensified. This model is said to be on the lines of Uttar Pradesh, where political balance and organizational coordination are strengthened by providing representation to various regions and social groups. This step is considered logical given the BJP's growing role in the NDA government and its number of seats. The party has emerged as the largest force in the alliance this time, having won 89 seats.

'One Minister per 6 MLAs' formula applied

This time, the 'one minister per 6 MLAs' formula has been adopted in the cabinet formation.

  • BJP – 89 seats
  • JDU – 85 seats
  • LJP (RLP) – 19
  • HAM – 5
  • RLM – 4

Based on these figures, the proportion of ministers has been determined. This is considered a balanced model of MLA representation. According to sources, there is also an agreement to give the post of Assembly Speaker to the BJP quota. This decision has been taken considering the BJP's growing strength and the number of its MLAs. Getting the Speaker's post will further strengthen the party's grip on the legislative process. Today, November 17, a crucial meeting of the BJP legislative party will be held in Patna at 11 AM.
