The Bihar government has decided to provide 35% reservation to women in all government jobs. Simultaneously, the Bihar Youth Commission has also been constituted for the youth, which will assist in employment and training.
Bihar Election: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced two major decisions regarding women empowerment and youth development. While 35% reservation will be provided to women who are native to Bihar in government services, the state government has also approved the formation of the 'Bihar Youth Commission'.
35% Reservation for Women in All Government Jobs
The Bihar government has taken a major and historic step towards empowering women in the state. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced that now, women who are native to Bihar will get 35% reservation in direct recruitment to all government services, cadres, and positions in the state. This decision was taken before the Bihar assembly elections and is considered a major initiative in the field of women's empowerment.
This reservation will not be limited to any one department, but will be applicable to all types of government jobs. This will encourage lakhs of women in the state to join government service and open new doors of opportunity for them.
Nitish Kumar has earlier taken important decisions regarding women's participation in education, health, and police departments. But now, this reservation will be implemented at all levels and services, ensuring women's participation throughout the government system.
Formation of Bihar Youth Commission Also Approved
Along with the women's reservation, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also announced the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission (Bihar Yuva Aayog). Its objective is to provide more and more employment opportunities to the youth of the state, provide them with training, and make them self-reliant.
Nitish Kumar informed on X (formerly Twitter) that the cabinet has approved the formation of this commission. This commission will advise the government on how to improve the condition of youth in the state. This commission will coordinate with various departments in the field of education, skill development, and employment.
Structure and Responsibilities of the Commission
The Bihar Youth Commission will have a chairman, two vice-chairmen, and seven members. The maximum age limit for them has been set at 45 years. Its objective is to bring youth leadership forward so that they can better understand the problems of the youth and suggest solutions.
This commission will monitor to ensure that the youth of the state get priority in private sector jobs. Ensuring the participation of youth in employment, especially at the local level, will be its main responsibility.
Along with this, this commission will also work to protect the interests of those youths who are studying or working outside the state. In addition, this commission will also formulate programs and suggest to the government to prevent evils spreading in society, such as alcohol and drug abuse.
