BJP Accepts Resignation of Telangana MLA T. Raja Singh

The resignation of T. Raja Singh, MLA from Goshamahal, Telangana, has now been officially accepted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This action follows the controversy surrounding his departure.

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accepted the resignation of T Raja Singh, the firebrand MLA from Telangana. He had resigned from the primary membership of the party on June 30, 2025. The reason for his resignation was stated to be disagreement over the appointment of N. Ramchander Rao as the Telangana BJP President. The party has now formally approved his resignation, intensifying the political situation in the state.

Why did Raja Singh resign?

In his letter, Raja Singh accused the party leadership of "neglecting local workers and making incorrect leadership choices." He said that the opinions of grassroots workers were not considered when deciding on the state president, and a leader without a b base was selected. However, he also clarified that he would maintain his commitment to Hindutva ideology.

Three-time MLA from Gośhamahal

Raja Singh has been an MLA from the Goshamahal assembly constituency in Telangana for three consecutive terms. He won the seat in 2014, 2018, and 2023. Notably, in the 2018 elections, when the BJP's performance was weak in the state, he still managed to retain his seat. The Goshamahal seat is part of the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, where AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi is the Member of Parliament. This area has a predominantly Hindu population, and Raja Singh has gained a b political base with their support.

Raja Singh is known as a Hardline Hindutva Leader. He has openly raised issues like cow protection, temple security, and Muslim fundamentalism. He has also been associated with organizations like the Bajrang Dal and Sri Ram Yuva Sena. His statements have often led to controversies. Some years ago, he was arrested for making controversial remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, after which the BJP suspended him from the party. However, the party revoked his suspension before the 2023 assembly elections.

Facing several criminal cases

Raja Singh has several criminal cases registered against him, most of which are related to inciting communal tensions, delivering hate speech, and disrupting law and order. Despite this, he is very popular among his supporters and presents himself as the Hindu Voice. Raja Singh's resignation has once again raised questions about the BJP's Telangana Political Strategy. On one hand, while the party is trying to strengthen its position in the state, on the other hand, the departure of old and b leaders from the party exposes organizational weakness.

The departure of a leader like Raja Singh, especially at a time when the political equations in the state are changing, could signal a Loss of grassroots connect for the BJP.
