A significant case of fraud has emerged against a BJP Yuva Morcha leader in Maharashtra. According to a complaint filed at the Sion Police Station in Mumbai, Amit Solunke, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), allegedly used the official letterhead and forged signature of BJP Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Prasad Lad to secure funding of ₹3.60 crore for a road development project.
This fraudulent letter was sent to the Planning Department of Beed district, falsely claiming approval for a substantial amount for a road project. Police investigations revealed that the letter was completely fake, and Prasad Lad became aware of it when his assistant was informed about the suspicious letter by Sandeep Bhakre, the Mumbai District Planning Officer.
Fake Letter Was Sent From Ratnagiri
Reportedly, the forged letter was sent from the Ratnagiri District Planning Office, even though Prasad Lad's nodal district responsibility had been shifted from Ratnagiri to Mumbai on June 27, 2025. This made the matter even more suspicious. The investigation revealed that the letter was submitted in Beed district by a person named Prashant Lande, who received it from Nilesh Waghmode. Waghmode was given the letter by Sachin Bankar.
The police have registered an FIR against all three individuals, but investigations suggest that these three may have been misled by Amit Solunke. Solunke allegedly lured them with the promise of securing contracts and may have extorted money from them.
Amit Solunke Granted Interim Bail
The main accused, Amit Solunke, is accused of orchestrating the entire fraud, creating fake documents, and attempting to get the plan approved by concealing his identity. However, the Sessions Court granted Solunke interim relief by granting him anticipatory bail. The court stated that he has no criminal record and is a permanent resident of Jalgaon district.
The court also clarified that Solunke must cooperate with the police investigation and comply with the prescribed conditions. Meanwhile, the Sion Police are thoroughly investigating the entire case and re-examining the roles of the individuals initially named.
Political Circles Abuzz
This fraud has created a stir in Maharashtra's politics. While the emergence of a BJP leader's name is a matter of concern for the ruling party, the strictness of the investigating agencies also indicates the seriousness of the matter. The police are now also investigating whether there is a larger network behind this fraud.
