Political activity has intensified within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the national president's post. Continuous meetings on Wednesday involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh in the Parliament complex further fueled speculation in this regard.

New Delhi: Continuous meetings of top BJP leaders in the Parliament complex on Wednesday further intensified speculation about the party president's post. These meetings, held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Parliament office, were attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh. The three leaders discussed with the PM for over an hour.

Although the BJP leadership remained silent on the matter, the continuous meetings escalated political activity. Before the main meeting, General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh met separately with PM Modi, followed by a joint meeting of all four leaders, and subsequently, another meeting was held between Shah, Nadda, and Santosh.

Discussions Intensified by Continuous Meetings of Top Leaders

These meetings, held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Parliament office, primarily included Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda, and B.L. Santosh. According to information, the three leaders had significant discussions with the PM for approximately one hour. Following this, another meeting took place between Shah, Nadda, and Santosh. Party insiders stated that the presence of General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh at the meeting is seen as an indication that the party could announce a new president at any time. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the agenda or decisions of any of these meetings.

Possibility of New President's Announcement

According to BJP sources, the continuous meetings and the activism of leaders have increased the likelihood of announcing a new national president. Additionally, a decision regarding the party's state president in Uttar Pradesh is also pending. It is believed within the party that organizational elections in UP play a significant role before the election for the national president's post.

As per the rules for the BJP president's election, organizational elections are necessary in at least 19 states before the national president can be elected. So far, elections have been completed in 29 state units. Although the Uttar Pradesh election is not mandatory, it is considered extremely important because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a Member of Parliament from this state.

Political Dynamics and the Jharkhand Context

The party's meeting is also being linked to a potential political reshuffle in Jharkhand. Reports of souring relations among the ruling coalition – JMM, RJD, and Congress – have been consistently emerging. Chief Minister Hemant Soren's recent visits to Delhi have further fueled this political stir. Political analysts suggest that at present, the BJP's top leadership is discussing strategies for organizational strengthening in Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. These meetings are significant not only for the president's post but also for state-level political decisions and upcoming electoral strategies.

According to sources, the election for the BJP president is likely to take place in 2026. The party is currently observing the inauspicious period of “Kharmas,” due to which the national president's election has been postponed. Kharmas will conclude with the Uttarayan festival in mid-January, after which the probability of holding the election is higher.
