The politics of Uttar Pradesh appears to be heating up once again. The back-to-back meetings of former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and his son with two key leaders have stirred up discussions in political circles.
First, Brij Bhushan Singh himself met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at 5 Kalidas Marg after nearly 31 months, and the very next day, his son and Gonda BJP MLA Prateek Bhushan Singh reached 7 Kalidas Marg to meet Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Although Prateek Bhushan described it as merely a meeting related to regional development, these timely meetings with two important leaders have fueled speculation about political equations.
Brij Bhushan Describes Himself as Standing at a Crossroads
After meeting the Chief Minister, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, in a conversation with reporters, said that CM Yogi holds a high position and it is natural to bow before him. Comparing himself to a person standing at a crossroads, he also recited Kabir's couplet — Kabira stands in the marketplace, wishing everyone well, with neither friendship nor enmity with anyone.
Brij Bhushan mentioned that he had last met the Chief Minister on December 29, 2022, and his visit to Nandinagar for a program was also scheduled for January 6. However, he later received information from an officer that the CM would not be able to come, which disappointed him. He said that canceling the program after preparations does not send a good message politically.
Brij Bhushan Speaks on His Son Becoming a Minister
When Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was questioned about the possibility of his son Prateek Bhushan being made a minister, he clearly stated that this decision has to be taken by the party and the Chief Minister. He sarcastically said that today, even such people have become ministers whom the public does not want to see. If they contest elections independently, they would not even get five thousand votes, but their destiny has taken them forward.
Regarding his son, he said that if Prateek works hard, he can become a minister in the future, although he does not yet show the seriousness that is required.
These statements and meetings make it clear that something is cooking in the politics of UP, the heat of which may intensify in the times to come.
