The Char Dham Yatra is now nearing its conclusion. Today, at 11:30 AM, the gates of Maa Ganga Temple in Gangotri were closed for the winter season. As the gates closed, the sacred site resonated with chants of 'Jai Maa Ganga'.
Chardham Yatra 2025: The Char Dham Yatra 2025 is now moving towards its conclusion. Preparations for the winter closure have begun in the shrines of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. This year too, thousands of devotees offered prayers with faith and devotion at all four shrines. Today, October 22, 2025, the gates of Gangotri Dham were closed for the winter season at 11:30 AM. On this occasion, the atmosphere in the shrine resonated with chants of 'Jai Maa Ganga'. The temple was grandly decorated, and devotees had darshan of Maa Ganga with deep reverence.
Priests associated with the temple and the administration informed that even after the winter closure of Gangotri Dham, devotees will be able to have darshan of Maa Ganga's Utsav Doli (ceremonial palanquin) in Mukhba village. Special arrangements have been made for the grand welcome of the deity in Mukhba village.
Closure Timings of Other Shrines
- Yamunotri Dham: Winter closure on October 23, 2025, at 8:30 AM. On this day, Bhaiyaduj, the gates of Maa Yamuna Temple will be closed. Following this, the Utsav Murti (ceremonial idol) of Maa Yamuna will be relocated to Kharsali village.
- Kedarnath Dham: Closed on October 23, 2025, at 8:30 AM.
- Badrinath Dham: Closed on November 25, 2025, at 2:56 PM.
During the Char Dham Yatra, special security and arrangements are made at these shrines to ensure that pilgrims' journeys are safe and smooth.
Impressive Pilgrim Numbers
This year, the Char Dham Yatra 2025 has seen over 49.30 lakh pilgrims visit so far. The number of devotees who visited Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams is as follows:
- Gangotri Dham: 7,57,762 pilgrims
- Yamunotri Dham: 6,44,366 pilgrims
It is expected that this figure will cross 50 lakh after the other shrines close in the remaining days of the Yatra. This number has been significantly higher compared to previous years, reflecting the increasing popularity of the Char Dham Yatra and the unwavering faith of devotees. During the remaining period of the Char Dham Yatra, pilgrims and tourists can offer prayers to Maa Ganga and Maa Yamuna in Mukhba and Kharsali villages. Additionally, they will be able to witness the enchanting sight of snowfall during this time.
