Bihar: A violent clash erupted between BJP and Congress workers in Patna on Friday. The focal point of this incident was the Congress's Patna office, where BJP workers were protesting against alleged derogatory remarks made by Rahul Gandhi during his 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Darbhanga, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.
The Congress alleged that BJP workers trespassed into their office and vandalized vehicles and property. Conversely, the BJP stated that their protest was peaceful, but Congress workers threw bricks and stones from inside, further escalating the conflict.
Rahul Gandhi's Statement
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi reacted to the entire development. He posted on the social media platform X, "Untruth and violence cannot stand before truth and non-violence. Attack and break, as much as you want to attack and break – we will continue to protect truth and the constitution. Satyameva Jayate."
Through this statement, Rahul Gandhi clarified that his aim is not to promote any kind of violence, but to protect democracy and the constitution. He stated that truth and non-violence will always triumph over untruth and violence.
BJP Workers' Allegations and Demand for Apology
BJP workers had demanded an unconditional apology from the Congress regarding the incident in Darbhanga. They alleged that during Rahul Gandhi's rally, derogatory language was used against Prime Minister Modi and his late mother from the stage. The BJP asserted that the Congress should publicly apologize in this matter.
Incident Captured by Media
Recorded video footage by the media clearly shows several BJP workers kicking and punching at the gates of the Congress office and engaging in vandalism. The video depicts workers and supporters from both parties throwing bricks and stones and wielding lathis at each other.
Congress workers warned that they would respond bly to this act by the BJP. Congress worker Ashutosh stated, "A fitting reply will be given. All this is happening with the government's complicity. Nitish Kumar is doing wrong."
Police Action: Arrest in Darbhanga
Darbhanga police arrested Mohammad Rizvi, also known as Raja, for making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother. Security was heightened in the area following this arrest. A video of the incident went viral on social media, leading to an increase in political and social reactions.
Political rhetoric intensified after this incident. Both the BJP and Congress accused each other. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier targeted Rahul Gandhi's Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, stating that such hateful and negative politics is a threat to the country's democracy.
On the other hand, the Congress claimed that violence was perpetrated by BJP workers after entering their office. The party stated that in a democracy, the protest of every political party should be peaceful.
