The examination dates and application schedules for CLAT 2027 and XAT 2027 have been announced. The syllabus and examination pattern for both entrance examinations remain unchanged, allowing candidates to continue their existing preparation.
The Consortium of National Law Universities (Consortium of NLUs) has released the schedule for CLAT 2027. The examination will be held on December 6, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Online applications will open on August 3, while the last date to apply is October 31, 2026.
The examination pattern and syllabus remain unchanged this year. Candidates will be required to answer 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in a two-hour examination. The question paper will cover English Language, Current Affairs and General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. CLAT scores will be used for admission to 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) and several other leading law institutions across the country.
XLRI Jamshedpur has also announced the examination date for Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2027. The examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode on January 4, 2027.
The application process is already underway, and candidates can submit online applications until December 5, 2026. The application fee has been fixed at Rs 2,300.
Graduates from any recognised university and students in the final year of their undergraduate programme are eligible to apply. The examination will include sections on Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge. The Decision Making section remains a distinguishing feature of the XAT examination.
XAT 2027 scores will be accepted for admission to MBA and PGDM programmes at more than 250 business schools, including XLRI Jamshedpur, XIM University, IMT Ghaziabad, TAPMI Manipal, GIM Goa, Great Lakes, FORE School of Management, and LIBA.
According to education experts, the absence of any changes in the syllabus and examination pattern for both entrance examinations allows candidates to continue preparing with their existing strategy. They also advised applicants to complete the application process before the deadline to avoid technical issues and focus on examination preparation.
