Congress MLA from Mangalore in Uttarakhand, Qazi Nizamuddin, has complained to police after receiving death threats on his mobile phone through WhatsApp. According to his complaint, an unidentified person sent objectionable audio, video and messages containing abusive language, targeting his religious identity and threatening to kill him and cause serious consequences. Police have registered a case against an unidentified accused and started an investigation.

According to the complaint submitted by Nizamuddin to police, objectionable material was sent to his mobile number through WhatsApp. The audio, videos and messages allegedly contained offensive language targeting his religious identity, along with threats to kill him and make him face serious consequences.

Police have begun investigating the complaint. The identity of the accused has not yet been established. Investigators are trying to determine the mobile number or digital medium used to send the threats, identify the sender and establish the purpose behind the communication.

The audio and videos sent through WhatsApp are expected to form part of the digital evidence in the investigation. Investigating agencies will examine the mobile number, messages and other available electronic evidence to determine where the threatening communication originated and who was behind it.

Police will also examine whether the person visible in the video is actually the sender or whether the video was used only to issue the threat. Verification of the authenticity and source of the digital video may form part of the investigation.

Qazi Nizamuddin is a Congress MLA from the Mangalore Assembly constituency. He has previously remained active on political and social issues concerning the area and has recently participated in several public and political programmes.

The threat case comes at a time when the MLA has been active on several local and political issues. A few days ago, he met police officials and sought an investigation into an alleged case involving fake documents linked to the voter list. He had alleged that documents were filed by allegedly misusing a person's name.

Police have not yet clarified whether the threat is connected to any political dispute or has a personal reason behind it. The actual reason is expected to become clear after the investigation. Police are examining all possible aspects of the case.

The MLA's complaint alleges not only death threats but also the sending of objectionable material, use of abusive language and an attempt to hurt religious sentiments. A case has been registered against an unidentified person on the basis of these allegations.

In cases involving threats to public representatives through digital platforms, identifying the accused can present a challenge for police. Investigators may examine electronic evidence along with relevant mobile and internet records to establish the identity and activities of the person responsible.

In this case, police will also examine whether the person issuing the threat knew the MLA previously or targeted him because of a dispute or political development. If the investigation establishes the involvement of an organised conspiracy or another person, its scope could expand.

The case has caused concern among the MLA and his supporters. Police have not yet made any final statement regarding the arrest of the accused or the credibility of the threat.

Threats received by public representatives in Uttarakhand have previously raised security-related questions. In such cases, police seek to identify the accused while also determining whether the threat could develop into an actual danger.

For now, a case has been registered against an unidentified accused on Qazi Nizamuddin's complaint, and police have begun investigating. The identity of the accused, the reason behind the threat and the authenticity of the audio and videos will become clear after the investigation.
