Darbhanga's Health Department has sealed JP Hospital and an alleged illegal blood collection centre as part of action against private healthcare institutions. The action was taken following complaints received by the department and during a routine inspection drive.

A Health Department team conducted a raid in the presence of district administration officials and local police. During the inspection, several documents related to the hospital and the blood collection centre were examined. According to officials, the operators failed to produce the required valid licences, registrations and other mandatory documents when asked. Both institutions were subsequently sealed in accordance with applicable rules.

Officials said the preliminary inspection indicated that patients were allegedly being misled regarding diagnostic tests and treatment. A detailed investigation into these allegations is currently underway.

During the inspection, the team also verified the hospital's available facilities, staff qualifications, laboratory operations, equipment and records. Health Department officials stated that hospitals, pathology laboratories and blood collection centres cannot operate without prescribed standards and valid authorisation. Action can be taken against institutions found violating the regulations.

Officials said certain documents and records were seized from the premises for examination. If further irregularities are identified during the investigation, legal action may be initiated against the operators. Authorities are also examining how long the institutions had been operating and the number of patients who had undergone testing or treatment there.

The Health Department said regular inspections of private hospitals, diagnostic centres and blood collection centres across the district will continue. Institutions lacking valid licences, trained staff or required facilities will face similar action. The department said the objective is to ensure patients receive safe healthcare services that comply with prescribed standards.

Experts said adherence to quality standards is essential in blood collection and laboratory testing services. They stated that operating without required permissions or necessary resources could affect both diagnostic reports and patient treatment, making regular monitoring an important part of the healthcare system.

The district administration appealed to residents to verify that any hospital, laboratory or blood collection centre is properly registered and authorised before obtaining medical tests. Citizens have also been asked to report any suspected irregularities to the Health Department so that timely inspections can be carried out.

Health Department officials said the action is intended not only to enforce regulations but also to ensure transparency, quality and patient safety in healthcare services. They added that inspection drives will continue and action will be taken against institutions found violating the rules.

JP Hospital and the associated blood collection centre have been sealed. Officials said the status of the required documents, the allegations that patients were misled and any other suspected irregularities will be confirmed only after the detailed investigation and subsequent legal process are completed.
