Domestic bullion prices declined for a second consecutive session on July 8, 2026, with both gold and silver trading lower in the local market. According to the latest market trends, weakness in international markets, strength in the US dollar, and cautious investor positioning were reflected in Indian bullion prices.
Market participants said the recent decline has drawn the attention of consumers and investors who have been waiting for more favourable price levels before making purchases.
According to market data, silver of 999 purity was trading at around ₹2,44,900 per kilogram during the trading session, lower than the previous session. Gold prices also eased across different purity categories, including 22-carat and 24-carat gold. Retail prices may vary across cities due to local taxes and other regional factors.

Analysts attributed the decline in gold and silver prices to several global economic factors. A key factor is market caution ahead of the upcoming US Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting, as investors await signals on the interest rate outlook. If interest rates remain elevated for an extended period, demand for non-interest-bearing assets such as gold could be affected.
In addition, strength in the US Dollar Index has continued to exert pressure on precious metals. A ber dollar makes gold relatively more expensive in international markets, which may reduce demand and weigh on prices. Analysts also said that changing global investor risk strategies and fluctuations in demand for safe-haven assets are influencing gold and silver prices.
