Delhi Capitals defeat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in WPL 2026 match at BCA Stadium

Delhi Capitals registered their second win of the Women’s Premier League 2026 with a seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in the 13th match at the BCA Stadium on Tuesday.

Mumbai Indians, asked to bat first after losing the toss, were reduced to 21 for 2 early. Sajeevan Sajna scored 9, while Hayley Matthews made 12. Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur then stabilised the innings with a 78-run partnership for the third wicket off 58 balls. Harmanpreet scored 41 off 33 deliveries, hitting seven fours.

After Harmanpreet’s dismissal, Sciver-Brunt added runs with Nicola Carey, who contributed 12. Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 65 off 45 balls, with six fours and two sixes, as Mumbai Indians finished on 154 for 5 in 20 overs. For Delhi Capitals, Shri Charani claimed three wickets, while Marizanne Kapp and Nandini Sharma took one wicket each.

Chasing 155, Delhi Capitals made a steady start through Shafali Verma and Lizelle Lee, who put on 63 runs for the first wicket in 7.3 overs. Shafali scored 29 off 24 balls with six fours. Lee later continued the innings with Laura Wolvaardt and scored 46, including seven fours and one six.

After a brief middle-order setback, captain Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the chase with partnerships alongside Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp. Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 51 off 37 balls, hitting five fours and one six. Kapp sealed the chase with an unbeaten 10 off six balls as Delhi Capitals reached the target in 19 overs.

Following the match, Mumbai Indians remain second on the points table despite losing four of their six matches. Delhi Capitals are placed fourth with two wins from five matches. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already qualified for the next round, while the remaining four teams continue to be in contention for the playoff spots.
