WhatsApp Web to Introduce Voice and Video Calling via Browser

WhatsApp is preparing to introduce voice and video calling on its web platform, allowing users to make personal and group calls directly from a browser without downloading any additional application.

The upcoming feature will enable users to place voice and video calls through WhatsApp Web in the coming weeks, primarily targeting those who use the service on laptops or desktop computers. The functionality will support both one-to-one calls and group calls with up to 32 participants.

With this update, users will no longer need to rely on a mobile device or a desktop application to make calls, as voice and video calling will be accessible entirely through the browser. The service will work on browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and others, reducing the need for extra software installations and conserving system storage.

The web-based calling feature will also include support for call links, allowing users to generate and share a link with contacts or groups so participants can join a call at a scheduled time.

In addition, call notifications will be enabled by default, ensuring users receive incoming call alerts within the browser even when the chat window is not open. WhatsApp Web will also offer a call scheduling option, allowing users to set a specific time for calls and receive reminders in advance.
