Nitish Kumar Continues Samriddhi Yatra in Seemanchal Inaugurates 68 Development Projects in Araria

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday continued the third phase of his ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, visiting the Seemanchal region where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects.

The visit comes amid speculation in political circles that Kumar may become a member of the Rajya Sabha next month. However, the Chief Minister has not issued any public statement on the matter so far.

On the second day of the third phase of the tour, Kumar reached Araria district by helicopter in the morning and participated in programmes related to several development initiatives. A total of 68 projects were inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid in the district, with an estimated combined cost of approximately ₹546 crore. The projects include initiatives related to infrastructure development, expansion of administrative facilities and schemes linked to local requirements.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the administrative building of the police centre in the district. In addition, he launched and laid the foundation stones for several development projects through remote inauguration.

During the visit, Kumar inspected a major project complex related to the Kosi region. At the site, he reviewed stalls set up by various government departments showcasing development schemes and obtained information from officials regarding the progress of the projects. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the renovation plan for the Araria Centre, prepared with the objective of strengthening administrative and development activities in the region.

Following the inspection, Kumar held a review meeting with officials at the Araria College stadium premises. During the meeting, officials discussed the status of ongoing development works in the district, their progress, and future plans.

Later, the Chief Minister interacted with local residents at a public programme held on the Araria College campus. During the interaction, he provided information about government development schemes and various programmes being implemented in the state. After the programme, Kumar departed by helicopter for Thakurganj in Kishanganj district, where further engagements were scheduled.

The third phase of the ‘Samriddhi Yatra’ is primarily focused on districts in the Seemanchal and Kosi regions. During this phase, the Chief Minister is scheduled to visit a total of 10 districts. On the first day of the phase, he visited Supaul and Madhepura and stayed overnight in Madhepura. The second day’s schedule included Araria and Kishanganj.
