Delhi: Special traffic arrangements will be in place in Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad for security and crowd management during the Independence Day celebrations on August 15th. Diversions and restrictions will be implemented on several main roads from 10 PM on August 14th until the afternoon of August 15th, while traffic around the Red Fort and Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi will be affected from 6 AM. The entry of heavy vehicles into Delhi will be completely prohibited, and the traffic police have appealed to citizens to use alternative routes.
Strict Traffic Plan for August 15th in Delhi-NCR
A strict traffic plan will be in effect in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad on August 15th due to the Independence Day celebrations. The Delhi Traffic Police and the police of other districts in the NCR have jointly announced traffic restrictions and diversions. This measure has been taken considering PM Narendra Modi's address to the nation from the Red Fort, the CM's program at Chhatrasal Stadium, and the anticipated crowds. Some routes will be completely closed from Thursday night, while diversions will be effective in many areas from 6 AM on Friday.
Major Roads Closed and Diverted in Delhi
Traffic restrictions will be in place on Netaji Subhash Marg (from Delhi Gate to Chhatta Rail Chowk), Lothian Road (from GPO to Fountain Chowk), S.P. Mukherjee Marg (from Yamuna Bazar to Red Fort), Chandni Chowk Road (from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort), and Nishad Raj Marg (from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg) in Delhi.
In addition, diversions will be implemented on Mahatma Gandhi Marg from ISBT to Rajghat, Wazirabad to ITO, Outer Ring Road (ITO to Red Fort), and Nizamuddin Bridge to ISBT.
Heavy Vehicles Banned in NCR
In Faridabad, the entry of heavy vehicles towards Delhi will be completely prohibited from 10 PM on August 14th to 2 PM on August 15th. Several entry points including Badarpur Border, Karni Singh Shooting Range, Surajkund Gol Chakkar, Mangar Chowki Naka, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and NH-19 will be sealed.
In Gurugram, traffic will be restricted on all routes towards Delhi from 5 PM on August 14th to 1:30 PM on August 15th. The police have advised travelers to divert via the KMP Expressway and use only designated parking spots.
Alternative Routes and Strict Monitoring in Noida-Ghaziabad
In Noida, vehicles going to Delhi from Chilla, DND, and Kalindi Kunj borders will be diverted via U-turns onto the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The same arrangement will be in place on the Yamuna Expressway and Pari Chowk route.
In Ghaziabad, the entry of all commercial vehicles into Delhi will be prohibited from NH-09, Dabar Tiraha, Mohan Nagar, Bhopura, Loni, and Suryanagar borders. This restriction will be in effect from 10 PM on August 14th until the program concludes.
