Delhi Premier League 2025 Schedule Change: Matches Moved Due to Independence Day Security

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) committee has announced a change in the schedule, stating that the match originally scheduled for August 13th will now be played on August 12th. The committee clarified that tickets issued for August 13th will be valid for the match on August 12th.

Sports News: A major change has been made to the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2025) schedule. The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has cancelled all matches scheduled for August 13th and 14th, 2025, due to Independence Day preparations and security reasons. Consequently, the matches planned for these dates have been shifted to August 12th.

Reason for the Change

In Delhi, security arrangements are heightened due to the Independence Day celebrations on August 15th. During this time, special monitoring is maintained on large public gatherings and events. The DDCA, in consultation with security agencies, decided that no matches should be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 13th and 14th.

Matches as per the New Schedule

Now, two matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 12th, 2025:

  • 2:00 PM: Outer Delhi Warriors vs. Central Delhi Kings
  • 7:00 PM: Old Delhi-6 vs. East Delhi Riders

These matches were originally scheduled to be played on August 13th and 14th, respectively, but will now be held on the same day.

Matches on August 16th

The organizers have clarified that tickets for August 13th will be valid for the matches on August 12th. Spectators will not need to purchase new tickets. However, spectators are requested to arrive at the stadium on time according to the revised schedule. After security arrangements are completed, the next matches of the league will be held on August 16th, 2025:

  • 2:00 PM: West Delhi Lions vs. New Delhi Tigers
  • 7:00 PM: Central Delhi Kings vs. North Delhi Strikers

The change in schedule may affect the preparations of the spectators and teams. Players will have to play back-to-back matches, while spectators will have to make changes to their schedules. However, the organizers say that security is the top priority and all changes have been made keeping this in mind.
