Bollywood's new generation pairing of Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri in the film 'Dhadak 2' appears to be struggling to gain a b foothold among audiences, just four days after its release.
Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 4: The highly anticipated Bollywood film 'Dhadak 2' seems to be faltering at the box office on its fourth day of release. Despite the presence of young and talented actors like Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri, the film has not been able to create the magic that was expected. A significant drop in the film's earnings was observed, especially on Monday, raising questions about its future.
Significant Drop in Fourth Day Earnings
Released on August 1st, this romantic drama earned ₹3.5 crore on its opening day. With a slight increase on Saturday, this figure reached ₹3.75 crore, but on Sunday, the film was limited to ₹3.09 crore. On Monday, the fourth day of release, the film's earnings saw a sharp decline, managing to collect only ₹1.40 crore.
In four days, 'Dhadak 2' has grossed a total of ₹12.80 crore, which is considered below average for a film from a large banner and with a young star cast.
Other Films Surpass 'Dhadak 2'
This week, 'Dhadak 2' directly competed with Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardar 2' and the long-running film 'Sayyara'. While 'Son of Sardar 2' maintained its grip by earning ₹2.50 crore on Monday as well, 'Dhadak 2' lagged behind. Furthermore, the film 'Sayyara', released on July 18th, has also surpassed 'Dhadak 2' by earning ₹2.50 crore on its 18th day. This clearly indicates that audiences' priority is currently more on entertainment and emotional connection rather than romance or social issues.
The story of 'Dhadak 2' is woven around the social issue of the caste system, attempting to portray a love story in a sensitive manner. The film is directed by Shazia Iqbal and features b actors such as Nasir Hussain, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Vipin Sharma in addition to Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri.
However, despite the seriousness of the subject matter, the film has failed to provide the emotional connection that was expected by the audience. The film's treatment feels somewhat cold, causing the youth to lose interest in the film.
Weak Screenplay and Slow Pace Become Weaknesses
The biggest weaknesses of 'Dhadak 2' are its screenplay and narration style. The film has a slow start, and its pace remains quite sluggish until the interval. In particular, the young audience in multiplexes expects fast-paced and powerful dialogues, which the film fails to deliver. On the other hand, content-driven but entertaining films like 'Sayyara' have made a place in the hearts of the audience, which is directly reflected in their success at the box office.
The first 'Dhadak' film gave a new direction to the careers of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar and was successful at the box office. But 'Dhadak 2', even though it is carrying forward the same brand name, has proved to be weak in terms of content and connection.
