James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry scored for Everton, while Dan Burn netted Newcastle's only goal. Jack Grealish was unavailable for selection after breaching the club's disciplinary rules.
Everton established control of the match during the opening half, scoring twice to build a two-goal advantage. The victory came without England winger Jack Grealish, who was left out of the squad following a disciplinary matter.
Newcastle created several opportunities early in the match. William Osula also had an opportunity to score, but Everton captain James Tarkowski intervened with a tackle to stop the threat.
Everton broke the deadlock in the 34th minute through James Garner. He found the net with an accurate shot from the edge of the penalty area, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.

The goal marked Hackney's first for Everton since joining the club from Middlesbrough during the summer for approximately £16 million.
Everton went into the break with a two-goal lead, leaving Newcastle needing to change their approach to get back into the contest.
Newcastle made three substitutions at the start of the second half, bringing on Yoane Wissa, Anthony Elanga and Joelinton in an attempt to strengthen their attack.
However, Everton maintained their advantage and added a third goal around the 69th minute. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall delivered a pass from the left, which Thierno Barry controlled before converting it into a goal.
The strike was Barry's seventh of the season and extended Everton's lead to 3-0.
Newcastle scored their only goal in the 89th minute when Dan Burn found the net with a header, reducing the deficit to 3-1.
