A BMW car hit the motorcycle of Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, on Ring Road in Delhi, resulting in his death. Three people, including his wife, were injured. Navjot Singh was a senior officer of the Central Secretariat Service cadre.
New Delhi: A BMW car collided with the motorcycle of senior officer Navjot Singh of the Union Ministry of Finance near Delhi Cantt Metro Station on Ring Road in Delhi. Navjot Singh died on the spot in the accident, while his wife and three other people were critically injured. The police have provided information about the incident and have started an investigation into the matter.
Navjot Singh Dies in Road Accident
The police identified the deceased as Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Union Ministry of Finance. Singh, 52, was an officer of the Central Secretariat Service cadre and was posted in North Block. He was recently about to rejoin office after completing a training course from IIM Lucknow. Navjot Singh lived in Hari Nagar, West Delhi, with his family.
The police stated that Navjot Singh was a professionally responsible and respected officer. His colleagues and senior officials of the ministry are shocked by this accident and are expressing their condolences.
Sequence of the Accident
According to information, Navjot Singh was returning home with his wife after visiting Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. While going from pillar number 57 of Dhaula Kuan towards Raja Garden, a speeding BMW car hit their motorcycle from behind. The police said that local people and PCR teams reached the spot after the accident.
The police stated that the car and the motorcycle were parked in different parts of the road. According to eyewitnesses, a woman was driving the car, and her husband was present behind her. Immediately after the accident, they took Navjot Singh and his wife to the hospital in a taxi.
Reaction of the Injured Wife and Family
Eyewitnesses told the police that the BMW car was at a very high speed and hit the motorcycle from behind. Navjot Singh was driving the motorcycle, while his wife was sitting behind him. Immediately after the accident, the car driver and her husband took the injured couple to the hospital.
Navjot Singh's son said, "Mother and father went to Bangla Sahib on the bike in the morning. On their way back home, a BMW car hit them. Father died on the spot, and mother's condition is serious. We are all shocked by this accident."
Police Investigation and Further Action
The police have taken the matter seriously and have started a thorough investigation of the incident. The reasons for the accident are being investigated, and it is also being ascertained whether the accident occurred due to any negligence or speeding by the car driver.
The police also stated that such accidents often occur due to the non-compliance of road safety and traffic rules. They have appealed to the local citizens to exercise caution and follow safety regulations.
