A new controversy has emerged in Uttar Pradesh politics. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sangeet Som recently made a controversial remark regarding Western Uttar Pradesh. He stated that Western UP is no longer becoming 'Mini Pakistan' but is turning into Pakistan itself.
Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader Sangeet Som has gone a step further than Jagadguru Rambhadracharya. The trend of comparing regions to Pakistan based on population, which was previously at a 'mini' level, is now happening on a larger scale. Responding to Swami Rambhadracharya's statement calling Western UP 'Mini Pakistan,' Sangeet Som said that Western UP is not becoming Mini Pakistan but is turning into Pakistan.
He alleged that some people are engaged in changing the country's demography, but the BJP government will not allow this to happen. Som also targeted Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, saying that he has the 'soul of the Mughals' within him, and the BJP will never let Mughal rule return.
What did the BJP leader say?
Sangeet Som told the media in Meerut that some people are trying to change the country's demographic structure, but the BJP government will never allow it. He also targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav, stating that he has the 'soul of the Mughals' within him and the BJP will never allow Mughal rule to return to Uttar Pradesh.
Som's remarks have sparked a new controversy in politics. He directly expressed concern over the increasing population in the Muslim-majority areas of Western Uttar Pradesh and termed it a national security issue.
Reaction from Muslim cleric Chaudhary Ifraheem Hussain
Following the statements by Rambhadracharya and Som, Muslim cleric Chaudhary Ifraheem Hussain gave a sharp response. He called it 'futile and baseless' and said that India is a bouquet of flowers and cannot become Pakistan. Hussain stated, "Pakistan is our enemy country and will always remain so. The greatness and integrity of our country can never be in danger. Any relation with Pakistan, whether it be sports or other activities, is unacceptable. The Indian government should sever all ties with Pakistan."
Hussain emphasized that the unity and integrity of the country are paramount and the public will not accept any divisive statements. SP MP Harendra Malik also reacted to the statement. He said that this might be a personal opinion, but the people of Western UP consider this region an integral part of India.
Malik said, "We were born here, we grew up here, and this region is a part of India. All citizens here are Indians and believe in the constitution. Nothing said against the constitution can be supported or accepted."
