Weather Alert: A Western Disturbance is expected to become active in Himachal Pradesh on November 4 and 5, which could lead to rain and snowfall in the mid and high-altitude districts. This warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department, cautioning about potential adverse weather in Shimla, Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, and Kangra. After Diwali, the weather remained dry for the past few days, but now there are indications of increasing cold. The administration has advised residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel and to make necessary preparations.
Western Disturbance to Change Weather
According to the Meteorological Centre Shimla, a Western Disturbance will affect the Western Himalayan region from November 4. This could lead to thunderstorms, rain, and lightning in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. Snowfall may also be observed in the high mountainous regions.
The department has advised citizens and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather and to remain vigilant. After Diwali, the weather in the state was dry, but now temperatures are set to drop sharply. Security agencies and district administrations have also been instructed to remain alert.

Temperature Drop Expected
A significant difference between day and night temperatures is being observed in the state. Kukurmseri recorded a temperature of -1.2 degrees Celsius, while Una saw the mercury rise to 31.2 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, a drop of 2 to 5 degrees in minimum temperatures is possible after the rain and snowfall.

Districts Requiring Special Vigilance
The yellow alert has primarily been issued for the mid and high-hilly districts. Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, and Shimla are likely to experience a greater impact from rain and snowfall. The administration is exercising caution due to the potential for increased crowds in tourist destinations.
Residents in these areas have been advised to stock up on essential supplies in advance and to keep an eye on weather updates. Hilly roads could become slippery, and vehicular movement might be affected.
