The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has achieved a major breakthrough in a heinous murder case that is 21 years old. Veerpal, the accused who brutally murdered his wife and fled in 2004, has finally been apprehended by the police. For the past two decades, he had been living under the alias 'Vijay alias Ramdayal' in the Bakshi Ka Talab area of Lucknow, working as a daily wage laborer. During his time as a fugitive, the accused also remarried and became the father of three daughters. The police exposed his identity through electronic surveillance and arrested him from Lucknow in a precise operation.
Murdered His Wife in 2004
On September 22, 2004, a heart-wrenching incident came to light in the Jahangirpuri area of Delhi. A tenant had attacked his wife and infant son and fled. When the police arrived at the scene, they found the woman's blood-soaked body in the room, while her child was lying nearby in a seriously injured condition. The injured child was immediately admitted to the hospital.
The police found a blood-stained brick, broken bangles, a broken tooth, and the woman's mouth tied with a sari at the crime scene, which clearly indicated that the murder was committed in an extremely cruel manner.
Child Revealed His Father's Secret
Police investigation revealed that the deceased woman was Veerpal's second wife. When the injured child regained consciousness, he stated that he and his mother were attacked by his father Veerpal and uncle Suresh Kumar together. Based on this statement, the police registered a case against both of them for murder and attempted murder. Suresh Kumar was arrested and presented in court, and in 2007, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. However, Veerpal had been absconding since then.
New Life, But Could Not Escape the Police's Eyes
In 2005, the court declared Veerpal a fugitive. After this, he sold his ancestral property in Farrukhabad and settled in Lucknow with a new identity. He started working as a laborer under the name Vijay alias Ramdayal and completely integrated into the community. To hide his identity, he severed all ties with his old village and relatives.
The Crime Branch team never stopped searching for the accused. When the police suspected a laborer in Lucknow through electronic and manual surveillance, a thorough investigation was started. After confirming the suspicion, the police team conducted a covert operation and apprehended the accused. During interrogation, Veerpal confessed to his crime. The police are now connecting the remaining links in the case with him.
