Demand for induction cooktops has increased in Meerut as a shortage of LPG cylinders continues to affect households, prompting residents to turn to electric cooking alternatives.

The shortage of gas cylinders in Meerut has begun to impact local markets, with a sharp rise in the demand for induction cooktops. Residents facing difficulty obtaining LPG cylinders are increasingly purchasing induction cooktops as an alternative for cooking.

According to local electronics retailers, induction cooktops earlier sold in limited numbers, but in recent days customers have been arriving in large numbers each day to buy them. Many households have reportedly run out of gas cylinders and are experiencing delays in receiving new ones, leading them to purchase induction cooktops as an immediate cooking option.

Shopkeepers say demand has increased so quickly that stocks at several stores are being depleted rapidly. They indicated that if the gas shortage continues for an extended period, induction cooktops may also become scarce in the coming days.

Some retailers said they have had to place fresh orders with companies for new stock because existing inventory is being sold quickly.

Customers said they are facing long waiting times for gas cylinders. Many residents have been visiting gas agencies repeatedly but are unable to obtain cylinders on time.

To avoid disruption in cooking, households are purchasing induction cooktops so that meals can be prepared using electricity.

Some users also said induction cooktops help cook food quickly compared with gas and are easier to use. However, they noted that power cuts can create difficulties when relying on induction cooking.

For now, due to the shortage of gas cylinders, many residents consider induction cooktops a practical alternative.

Retailers said that if gas supply does not return to normal soon, demand for induction cooktops may increase further, making it challenging to maintain adequate availability in the market.

At present, several stores report steadily rising sales of induction cooktops, with a large number of customers visiting to purchase them.
