Security arrangements have been tightened across Uttar Pradesh for Alvida Juma, the last Friday of Ramadan. Authorities have placed police and administrative teams on high alert in sensitive areas, and special arrangements have been made for prayers at the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, where prayers will be conducted in two shifts to manage the crowd.
According to the administration, a large number of worshippers are expected to gather at mosques on the occasion of Alvida Juma. Security measures have therefore been strengthened and additional police personnel deployed in several districts. In Varanasi, specific arrangements have been made around the Gyanvapi Mosque to prevent any disruption.
Police and administrative teams are maintaining continuous surveillance in the area. Under the security plan, drone cameras are being used to monitor crowds and surrounding locations. Activities are also being observed through CCTV cameras.
Officials said the decision to conduct prayers in two shifts was taken due to the possibility of large crowds during the namaz. The arrangement is intended to help control the crowd and maintain order. Police personnel and administrative officers will remain deployed at the site.
Security has also been increased in other districts of the state for Alvida Juma. Patrolling has been intensified in sensitive areas and police have been instructed to remain alert. The administration has appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony and not pay attention to rumours.
Police officials said maintaining law and order during festivals is a priority for the administration. Extensive preparations have been made in advance, including drone surveillance, deployment of additional police personnel and traffic management measures to monitor the entire area so that the prayers can be conducted peacefully.
