A dispute over approximately 10 feet of land in Gaya allegedly led to the death of a man after he was attacked by his elder brother with an iron rod. The victim died either at the scene or while being taken to hospital due to severe injuries. Following the incident, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot.
According to local residents, the two brothers had been involved in a long-running dispute over land demarcation and possession. Family members and villagers had reportedly attempted to mediate the matter on several occasions, but the dispute remained unresolved. On the day of the incident, an argument allegedly broke out between the two sides and escalated into a violent confrontation.
It is alleged that during the dispute, the elder brother struck the younger brother multiple times on the head with an iron rod. The victim sustained serious head injuries. Family members and local residents immediately attempted to take him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the scene and conducted an inspection. Forensic evidence was collected, and people present nearby were questioned. Police took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to officially determine the cause of death.
Police officials said the preliminary investigation has indicated that the incident was linked to a land dispute, but an impartial investigation into the entire sequence of events is underway. Further legal action will be taken on the basis of eyewitness statements, the post-mortem report, and other evidence. If the allegations are found to be true, strict action will be taken against the accused in accordance with Indian law.
Following the incident, the deceased's family members were left grieving, while the village remained in mourning and under tension. Police personnel have been deployed in the area as a precaution to prevent any untoward incident.
