Hopes for peace rise in Gaza after the Israel-Hamas war. Hamas released seven Israeli hostages. Both sides agreed to a ceasefire mediated by Trump, and 2,000 Palestinian prisoners will also be released.
Tel Aviv: Hopes for peace have emerged in the Middle East following the two-year-long Israel-Hamas war. Both sides have agreed to a ceasefire, mediated by US President Donald Trump. Under this agreement, Hamas has begun releasing Israeli hostages held in its captivity. The first seven hostages were released today, and the remaining 13 hostages are also expected to be released soon.
This agreement is considered a significant step towards ending the devastating conflict in Gaza. Additionally, following this agreement, Israel will also release approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, raising hopes for establishing peace in the region.
US President Trump's Mediation
US President Donald Trump is currently touring the Middle East. He has played a crucial role in making the peace plan in Gaza successful. Trump arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, this morning, where his Air Force One aircraft landed at Ben Gurion Airport.
Speaking to reporters before heading to Israel, Trump stated that the war between Hamas and Israel has ended and expressed hope that the ceasefire would remain in effect going forward. Trump emphasized the necessity of international community cooperation for peace efforts.
Hostage Release in First Phase
As part of the release process, the first seven hostages have been freed. The Israeli army confirmed that the first seven of 20 live hostages evacuated from the northern Gaza Strip with the help of the Red Cross have been safely received.
The families of the hostages became emotional on this occasion. According to news agency Reuters, the mother of hostage Nimrod Cohen said she was very happy and that it was difficult to express this joy in words. She stated that she couldn't sleep all night and was just waiting to see her son safe.
Release of Remaining and Deceased Hostages
Hamas holds a total of 20 hostages. In the first phase, seven hostages have been released. The remaining 13 hostages are also expected to be released soon. Additionally, the bodies of 26 hostages killed in the war are also expected to be released on Monday.
This release is the most significant part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement reached last week at Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh resort. More than 20 world leaders, led by US President Trump, participated in this agreement.
This two-year war has completely devastated Gaza. Most residents of Gaza City have been displaced from their homes. Millions are forced to live in temporary shelters. Local infrastructure, hospitals, schools, and residential areas have suffered extensive destruction. Now, following this ceasefire, efforts can begin towards increasing humanitarian aid. Support from the international community is expected for relief and reconstruction.
Atmosphere of Hostage Release in Israel
Hundreds of people gathered at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv. Upon hearing the news of the hostages' release, people expressed joy. Many wore yellow ribbons and pins, conveying a message of solidarity. The release ceremony reflected a sense that a ray of hope had emerged among the public after the pain and fear of the war.
