A domestic dispute in Ghaziabad left a man seriously injured after his wife allegedly bit off a portion of his tongue. The injured man has been admitted to hospital, and police have arrested the accused woman. Investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
The incident occurred in the Modinagar area of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. The victim, identified as Vipin, was married in June 2025 to Isha, a resident of Meerut. After the marriage, the couple began living with family members in the Sanjaypuri area. Due to limited space in the house, a room was constructed on the upper floor where the couple stayed.
According to family members, disputes began about a month after the marriage over Isha’s habits. It is alleged that she secretly consumed alcohol and cigarettes and spent a significant amount of time making social media reels. Vipin reportedly objected to these activities, leading to frequent arguments.
The altercation on the night of the incident reportedly began over food. On Monday night, Isha prepared egg curry. When Vipin returned home from work, he refused to eat eggs daily. Isha then suggested ordering chicken and allegedly took out a bottle of alcohol, after which an argument ensued.
At around 11 pm, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation. It is alleged that Isha slapped Vipin several times. During the confrontation, she allegedly pretended to show affection, held Vipin’s tongue with her teeth, and bit it forcefully, severing a portion of it and causing serious injury.
In an injured condition, Vipin went downstairs to his mother, after which family members rushed him to hospital. Doctors at a medical college in Meerut stated that approximately 2.5 centimetres of his tongue had been severed and could not be reattached.
Doctors have stated that an artificial tongue may be fitted in the future, but Vipin’s ability to speak will not remain the same. The family said their priority is to save Vipin’s life, even if he is unable to speak normally.
On the complaint of Vipin’s mother, police registered a case against the accused wife Isha under serious sections of law. Police said the accused woman has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
According to legal experts, the case falls under the category of grievous injury, as a body part was severed, and such offences carry provisions for a lengthy sentence.
