In Gorakhpur, 19-year-old Nitya Yadav was murdered by her brother Aditya Yadav over her affair. The accused drowned his sister in canal water and later informed the police about the incident himself. The accused has been arrested.
Gorakhpur: On Monday, October 6, a horrific family incident came to light in the Campierganj police station area. 19-year-old Nitya Yadav was drowned in canal water by her brother Aditya Yadav. Shortly after the incident, Aditya himself called the police to report the murder and arranged for the body to be recovered from the canal.
The accused told the police that his sister was having an affair with a young man. He repeatedly tried to make his sister understand, but Nitya did not comply. Out of anger, Aditya took this dreadful step.
Identification of the Deceased Nitya Yadav
Nitya Yadav was a resident of Bhaurabari village in Campierganj and a student of class 12. Aditya Yadav was the eldest in the family, while their father had already passed away. The family also includes two other sisters and one brother.
According to the police, despite Aditya's displeasure over his sister's affair and repeated attempts to make her understand, Nitya did not comply. This was the reason he resorted to this fatal step. The incident spread silence and fear throughout the village and surrounding areas.
Arrest of the Accused in the Incident
According to the police's preliminary investigation, in the morning, Aditya followed his sister. Upon reaching Dhamma canal, he caught Nitya and drowned her in the water. Nitya made several attempts, but her breath ceased.
Aditya called the police shortly thereafter to report the murder. The police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to BRD Medical College for post-mortem. The Campierganj police station prepared the inquest report (panchnama) and arrested the accused.
Police Begin Investigation
Jitendra Srivastava, SP North Gorakhpur, stated that considering the seriousness of the case, legal action has been initiated against the accused. The police are investigating all aspects, including family statements, CCTV footage, and other evidence related to the murder.
The police stated that this incident occurred due to a family dispute and a personal quarrel among adolescents. During the investigation, the accused is being strictly interrogated, and all information related to the incident is being recorded.
