Sultanpur/Kadipur: A grocery merchant's murder in the Kadipur police station area of the district early Wednesday morning caused a sensation in the locality. Rakesh Gupta, who ran a shop on the Kadipur–Chanda road in Devarh village, was beaten to death with sticks by unknown assailants. Following the incident, there is deep anger among villagers and and traders.
According to reports, the merchant was present at his shop in the morning when some individuals suddenly attacked him. Rakesh Gupta was critically injured in the assault and died on the spot. From the crime scene, the police recovered a sack of grain and the keys to the shop's vehicle, which are considered crucial to the investigation.
According to sources, the deceased's family has denied any knowledge of an old dispute, leading the police to also consider the case from the perspective of a pre-planned conspiracy. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police station team and a Circle Officer's (CO) team arrived at the scene and began their investigation.
Police have started searching for nearby CCTV footage, call details, and potential evidence. Efforts to identify the suspects are ongoing, and raids have been intensified in the area. Officials state that those involved in the incident will be arrested soon.
