Sultanpur Police Team Attacked During Arrest, Officers Injured & Weapon Snatched

A police team in Sultanpur was attacked by villagers during an arrest operation, leaving officers injured and a service pistol snatched. Reinforcements brought the situation under control, and a case has been registered.

Sultanpur/Ayodhya: On Wednesday morning, a police team was attacked in Pooray Lala, Dobhiyara village, within the Haliyapur police station area of Sultanpur district. The team had arrived in the village to arrest the accused, Adarsh Singh, who was wanted by Ayodhya Police. During the arrest, the accused's family members and villagers suddenly attacked the police.

According to sources, Sub-Inspector Aakil Hussain, Daroga Bhanu Pratap Shahi, and Constable Umesh Gautam had apprehended Adarsh Singh from his house. As soon as they brought him out, the crowd attacked them with sticks, clubs, bricks, and stones. In the chaos, the attackers also snatched the police officers' service pistol and mobile phones. The pistol has not yet been recovered.

The police officers sustained injuries in the attack. Following the incident, police reinforcement reached the spot, and the situation was brought under control. A case has been registered at Haliyapur police station against nine named individuals and several unknown persons.

According to information, a case had previously been registered against Adarsh Singh and several others in connection with a firing incident involving Rahul Mishra on November 14. The Ayodhya police team had gone to the village to make an arrest in that very case.

CO Milkipur, Shriyash Tripathi, stated that such attacks against law and order will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
