Junagadh: In the Mangrol area of Junagadh district in Gujarat, two religious structures located on the National Highway have been demolished by the administration. This action was taken to remove encroachments that were obstructing traffic on the Veraval-Porbandar National Highway. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) team carried out this operation with police security and administrative support.
Action to remove encroachment on National Highway
For several months, two religious structures on the Veraval-Porbandar National Highway in the Mangrol region of Junagadh had been causing a serious problem for traffic. The Highway Authority informed the administration that vehicle movement was being affected by these encroachments, posing a threat to road safety.
SP Subodh Odedra stated that the National Highway Authority had requested police deployment. Following this, a joint team of the administration, police, and PGVCL planned the operation. Before the structures were removed, traffic was controlled throughout the area, and local residents were informed about the action.
Security arrangements by police and administration during encroachment removal
During the demolition, approximately 150 GRD home guard jawans were deployed under the guidance of senior police officers. In addition, a total of about 300 personnel were involved from the administration and the Highway Authority team. The police not only maintained law and order during the removal of the structures but also took additional steps to prevent any untoward incidents in the surrounding area.
The administration had warned people not to attempt to save or obstruct any structures during the action. For security reasons, the entire area was temporarily closed for some parts of the road to ensure the smooth completion of the work.
Traffic normalized on the highway after structures were removed
After the structures were removed, traffic on the highway returned to normal. Local residents appeared satisfied with the administration's action and stated that these encroachments had been a source of trouble on the road for a long time. The administration described this action as a significant step towards ensuring road safety and smooth vehicle movement.
SP Subodh Odedra said that this action was entirely legal and necessary. He appealed to citizens not to encroach upon public property and highways. He also stated that the administration would take immediate action upon receiving any complaints of such encroachments in the future.
