Tragedy in Gwalior: Speeding Car Kills Four Kanwar Pilgrims

Late Tuesday night in Gwalior, a speeding car struck a group of Kanwariyas who were on their way to offer water to Lord Shiva during the month of Sawan. The accident resulted in the death of four Kanwar pilgrims, while two others were seriously injured. The incident occurred in the Utila police station area on Shivpuri Link Road, where the Kanwariyas were walking along the road after filling water from Bhadavana Lake.

Speeding Car's Tire Burst

According to eyewitnesses, around 1 a.m., a speeding car suddenly suffered a tire burst, causing the driver to lose control and crash directly into the group of Kanwariyas. Subsequently, the car fell into a ditch by the roadside. The impact was so severe that three people died on the spot, while the injured were immediately taken to JAH Hospital. One more injured person succumbed to their injuries during treatment, bringing the death toll to four.

Kanwariyas Protest After Incident

Chaos erupted at the scene after the accident. Enraged Kanwariyas and their supporters blocked the road and started protesting, which disrupted traffic for some time. Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured Kanwariyas were taken to the hospital with the help of ambulances, where they are undergoing treatment.

Police Investigation Underway

Chief Superintendent of Police Hina Khan said that the police reached the spot as soon as they received information about the accident and started relief operations. The car has been seized from the scene. According to the police, the victims of the accident were part of a 13-member Kanwar Yatra group. Relatives stated that the vehicle was moving at a very high speed and the driver lost control after the tire burst.

Currently, the police have identified the owner of the car and are searching for the driver. The matter is being investigated and further action will be taken soon. Questions have once again been raised about the safety of devotees in Sawan.
