Haryana Government Grants Significant Age Relaxation for Ex-Agniveers in State Jobs

The Haryana government has provided significant relief to ex-Agniveers in government jobs. Under the new notification, a three-year age relaxation will be granted in Group-B and Group-C recruitments, while the first batch returning from the army will receive an additional five-year relaxation. This will strengthen employment opportunities for thousands of Agniveers in the coming years.

Haryana Agniveer Age Relaxation Policy: The Haryana government has issued a new notification to provide better opportunities to ex-Agniveers in government jobs. A three-year age relaxation has been implemented for direct recruitment to Group-B and Group-C posts in the state, while the first batch returning from the army will receive an additional five-year relief. This decision has been implemented with immediate effect, and instructions have been sent to all departments. The government states that this step aims to strengthen the rehabilitation and respect of the youth who have served the nation as Agniveers.

Significant Relief for Ex-Agniveers in Government Jobs

The Haryana government has eased the path for ex-Agniveers to secure government jobs. According to the new notification, ex-Agniveers will receive a three-year age relaxation in the upper age limit during direct recruitment to all Group-B and Group-C posts in the state. Additionally, the first batch returning from the army will be granted an extra five years of relaxation. This decision has been implemented with immediate effect, and directives have been issued to all departments, boards, and corporations.

The government states that Agniveers are among the most disciplined and trained youth in the country, who develop leadership skills and the ability to make decisions in difficult situations. Therefore, it is the state's responsibility to provide them with better opportunities in government services.

Additional Benefits Under Agniveer Policy 2024

The state government had incorporated several major provisions in the Agniveer Policy 2024, which was implemented last year. Under this policy, Agniveers are provided with reservation in government and private jobs, easy loan facilities, and exemption from the mandatory Common Eligibility Test (CET). The government explicitly states that this step is not merely about guaranteeing jobs but aims to strengthen the rehabilitation and respect of ex-Agniveers.

So far, over seven thousand youths from Haryana have been recruited into the three armed forces under the Agniveer scheme. The largest batch among these was recruited in 2023-24. The first batch is set to retire in July 2026, after which these age relaxations and reservation facilities will be directly applicable.

Selection Made Easier with Reservations in Departments

The government has arranged for 10 percent horizontal reservation for Agniveers in recruitments for police, jail wardens, mining guards, and SPOs. Additionally, they will receive 5 percent reservation in direct recruitment for Group-C posts. This will significantly simplify the selection process for ex-Agniveers compared to before.

These provisions have been introduced at a time when a large number of Agniveers will be returning after completing their service in the coming years. The state plans to ensure that these youths not only secure jobs but also utilize their skills in administrative and security-related positions.
