Vaibhav Suryavanshi, often dubbed the next Sachin Tendulkar of Indian cricket, tends to shower records with his bat whenever he steps onto the field. At just 14 years and 232 days old, his mature batting style is reminiscent of a seasoned senior player.

Sports News: 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, hailed as the rising star of Indian cricket and the 'next Sachin Tendulkar' of the future, created such a sensation at the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, Qatar, that the entire cricketing world plunged into discussions about his name. Debuting in an India-A jersey, Vaibhav unleashed a flurry of fours and sixes on the UAE bowlers, smashing a century in just 32 balls.

At merely 14 years and 232 days old, Vaibhav's batting performance resembled that of an experienced international player. Powerful shots, long hits, and impeccable timing on every ball – this young batter set a flurry of records.

144 Runs off 42 Balls - A Rain of Sixes

Vaibhav's innings against UAE was absolutely explosive. He scored 144 runs off 42 balls, including 15 sixes and 13 fours. His strike rate stood at 324.85, ranking as the fourth-highest strike rate for any centurion in men's T20 cricket history. Completing his initial century in just 32 balls, Vaibhav showed the world that he is not just a junior cricketer, but a major star in the making.

The power of Vaibhav's bat in this match can be gauged by the fact that he hit more sixes than fours. At times, it seemed as if he had come onto the field more to intimidate the bowlers than to bat. The rate of sixes in his innings was so rapid that he could have even broken the record for the most sixes in a single innings in T20 cricket. However, he was dismissed after hitting 15 sixes, missing the opportunity to create new history.

Has Rohit Sharma's Record Been Broken?

A big question on the minds of Indian cricket fans was whether Vaibhav had broken Rohit Sharma's 'fastest T20 century' record. Rohit had scored a T20 International century off 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017. Vaibhav completed his century in just 32 balls, making it the fastest century innings played by any representative player for Team India.

However, one thing is clear: this record will not be counted in International T20s because Vaibhav scored this century while playing for India-A. Therefore, Rohit Sharma's official international record remains intact. The record for the most sixes in T20 cricket, with 19 sixes, belongs to Finnley Hughes Allen, who achieved this feat in American Domestic T20 in June 2025.

With 15 sixes in an innings, Vaibhav has now jointly reached the 5th position alongside legends like Chris Gayle and Shreyas Iyer. The record for the most sixes in an innings by an Indian player (17) still belongs to Puneet Bisht.
